Cath Lab Technician
The Cath Lab Technician supports cardiac catheterization procedures, operates specialized imaging equipment, and ensures patient safety during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This role involves close collaboration with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Procedure Assistance & Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
- Assist cardiologists during angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker implantation, and related procedures.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and ensure safety throughout procedures.
- Administer contrast media under physician supervision.
- Provide post-procedure care instructions and support patient recovery monitoring.
Equipment Handling & Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain catheterization lab equipment, including fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring systems.
- Ensure proper calibration, sterilization, and functionality of all cath lab instruments.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues with imaging and diagnostic equipment.
Documentation & Quality Control:
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, equipment usage, and patient information.
- Follow hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control guidelines.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives to enhance patient care and procedural outcomes.
Team Collaboration & Continuous Learning:
- Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and radiologic technologists to maintain efficient workflow.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in cardiac procedures and imaging technology.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and hospital meetings for professional development.
